What is the plot of Balagam?

Gajula Komurayya, an elderly man, leads a happy life with his elder son, Ailayya, daughter-in-law, Swaroopa, and grandson, Sayilu in their village in Telangana. Sayilu, who is set to get married soon, plans to use his dowry for repaying a loan of 15 lakhs INR he took to start his small-scale businesses in the village that proved to be unsuccessful. However, his world turns upside down when Komurayya dies unexpectedly, causing his wedding to be postponed indefinitely, as it is considered to be inauspicious for performing any celebratory or religious event within a year of the death of a family member of the same surname. Komurayya's passing brings back his estranged daughter, Lakshmi, who was forced to be away from her family for twenty years as her husband, Narayana, has been at odds with Ailayya and the latter's younger brother, Mogilayya. Komurayya is traditionally cremated by his sons and Narayana is requested not to leave with Lakshmi and their daughter, Sandhya, until the eleventh day after Komurayya's passing, as per the established customs. Sayilu's fiancée is accused of being unlucky for the family after her horoscope is held responsible for Komurayya's death, resulting in an argument between Ailayya and her parents, causing the wedding to be called off. Sayilu discerns that Narayana is a wealthy person with an only daughter and therefore, the latter's husband will inherit all his wealth. He begins to woo Sandhya only to be rebuffed. On the third day, a crow is supposed to feed on the food, presented on behalf of Komurayya's soul, according to the traditions, but it does not do so. Humiliating Ailayya for it, Narayana performs the same event on the fifth day, only to fail and be insulted by Ailayya. In the ensueing argument, Ailayya and Narayana hold each other's collars and an infuriated Narayana leaves with his family. Narsi, a tailor who holds himself responsible for Komurayya's death, as he had jokingly wished his death, falls ill. Two other people in the village fall ill, indirectly, because of Komurayya's death. Sayilu decides to take advantage of this, with the intent of bringing Lakshmi's family back. He and his friend pretend to argue with each other in the village's center. Sayilu's friend successfully makes the villagers believe that as the crow did not feed on both the days as Komurayya's soul is probably not satisfied with something, causing all the mishaps in the village. The sarpanch of the village invites Komurayya's family to a panchayat. He commands Ailayya, Mogilayya, and Narayana to satisfy Komurayya's soul by fulfilling his desires by the eleventh day, if not they would all have to consequences of it, to be decided. As a result, Lakshmi's family returns and Sandhya thanks Sayilu for giving her family back to her, reciprocating his feelings. Ailayya reminisces about his affection for Lakshmi when Komurayya's sister narrates a story of their childhood to Sandhya. As Ailayya and Narayana apparently reconcile, Komurayya's brother suggests getting Sayilu married to Sandhya, upon Sayilu pestering him, as they are cross cousins and Komurayya had always wished for this matrimonial alliance. Narayana agrees, ultimately rekindling his relationship with Ailayya. However, tensions arise again when Mogilayya's wife objects to Komurayya's grave being built in his favorite place as she has been planning to sell the land to her brother and the latter refuses to accept the grave in the land. This leads to an argument, again, and Komurayya's brother reprimands Komurayya's sons for not being bothered about their father and using his death for their own self-interests. Sayilu regrets always being concerned about money and deeply mourns his grandfather's death that night. On the eleventh day, the entire family has an emotional epiphany and Sayilu brings a photo of the family from twenty years ago, clicked right before Narayana and Ailayya had their argument, which was kept secured by Komurayya. Finally, crows feed on the food, indicating that Komurayya's soul is satisfied. The entire family finally reunite.
